The Quickclear Aspiration Thrombectomy System

Steve Jerome described Quickclear as a single use, pump driven aspiration device with six, eight, and ten French catheters, the six French used arterially and the eight and ten venously, offering three times the aspiration pressure of AngioJet and more than the Penumbra Indigo with no capital equipment.

Using IVUS to Select Appropriate Cases

Jerome described using intravascular ultrasound routinely to assess whether clot is acute, subacute, or chronic, since Quickclear performs best on acute or subacute thrombus and may be less suited to chronic disease, guiding device selection before each case.

Case Results: Venous Clot, Stents, and Filters

He shared cases showing large venous clot, a re-occluded venous stent, and thrombus within a retrievable filter, each cleared using the ten French catheter over five to six passes, with a booster syringe available to add aspiration power on tougher clot.

Practical Use During COVID Related ICU Shortages

Jerome noted increased Quickclear use during COVID related thrombus spikes when ICU beds were scarce, replacing overnight TPA drips, and described a flow switch that lets operators pause aspiration while repositioning the catheter to limit blood loss.
