VTE and Imaging: Devices, Registries and Anticoagulation Gaps
Anticoagulation Gaps in DOAC Failure and SVT Duration
A single center review found early DOAC failures occurred far more often with apixaban than rivaroxaban among patients readmitted with recurrent VTE, and a meta-analysis of SVT trials found anticoagulation past 31 days reduced progression to DVT and PE versus shorter courses.
Pulmonary Embolism Resolution and Advanced Therapy
Residual pulmonary vascular obstruction affected about 40 percent of PE patients regardless of anticoagulation or advanced therapy, while the FLASH registry found FlowTriever thrombectomy reduced ICU stays and readmissions, and the Rescue trial found the Bashir catheter cut thrombus burden with no major bleed.
DVT Thrombectomy Across Clot Chronicity
The CLOUT registry found ClotTriever met its 75 percent clot reduction goal regardless of whether clot was judged acute, subacute, or chronic, with similarly low post-thrombotic syndrome rates at six months across all groups.
Stent Durability, Aneurysms and Quality Variation
Twenty four month Abre stent data showed 86 percent primary patency with no fractures, a retrospective series found popliteal vein aneurysms were most common, and a Medicare analysis found threefold geographic variation in postoperative VTE rates across referral regions.
