Registry Growth and Venous Education

An SVS-AVF registry update described continued growth across the varicose vein, IVC filter, and venous stent modules, now approaching a million enrollees combined, along with new reporting tools that let sites benchmark follow-up rates and complication clustering. A second talk argued that venous disease education must extend beyond dedicated venous specialists, proposing a joint AVF-SVS curriculum, expanded webinar and microlearning content, and closer coordination between the two societies to reach practitioners across specialties.

Diversity Initiatives and Reimbursement Advocacy

A diversity, equity, and inclusion update reviewed SVS workforce demographic data, newly formed women’s and young surgeon sections with board representation, changes to nominating committee composition, and an upcoming gender compensation survey. A closing advocacy talk explained how procedure valuation is calculated from time and intensity, described restrictive local coverage policies affecting varicose vein treatment, and outlined legislative and grassroots efforts, including PAC support, to protect venous reimbursement.
