AVF Research Infrastructure and the JURY Trial
The AVF described a new consortium built with the University of Maryland providing multicenter trial management, biostatistics, and systematic review capability. The JURY trial tested this infrastructure and found no significant difference in venous clinical severity scores between patients with and without junctional reflux in the great saphenous vein, a finding relevant to insurance authorization decisions.
Journal Update
The editor of the Journal of Vascular Surgery Venous and Lymphatic Disorders marked its tenth anniversary, reviewed submission trends and impact factor growth, and outlined the move to electronic only and eventually gold open access publishing, along with new virtual special issues and an expanded editorial team.
Founder’s Award
The AVF presented its Founder’s Award, given only in years of exceptional merit, to two honorees recognized for decades of leadership in deep venous surgery, vascular diagnostics, mentorship, and AVF committee service.
Presidential Address
The outgoing president reflected on mentors who shaped his career, growth in AVF membership and research capacity, and the importance of mentorship, inclusion, and collaboration with other societies in expanding the field’s reach.
