Iliac Vein Stenting Safety and Outcomes

A review of nearly 1,000 iliac vein stentings found no association between thrombosis and age or anticoagulant type, and CEAP stratified data showed symptom improvement across classes, though advanced disease had higher unadjusted reintervention rates and larger ulcers took longer to heal.

Novel Stent Design and Long Term Patency

Dedicated nitinol stents showed less extension into the vena cava than wall stents with comparable early patency, and three year outcomes confirmed durable patency and freedom from reintervention across post-thrombotic, non-thrombotic, and acute thrombosis groups.

Stenting Beyond the Iliac System

Early experience stenting thoracic central venous occlusion in dialysis patients achieved good technical success despite high underlying mortality, and iliofemoral stenting in neuromuscular disorder patients improved swelling and ulcer healing but carried a high reintervention rate.

Deep Valve Reconstruction and Technique Refinement

A treatment algorithm prioritizes correcting venous obstruction before addressing residual reflux with deep valve reconstruction, since ambulatory venous pressure improves only modestly after either alone, and refined saphenous laser crossectomy technique reduced junction recurrence over years.
