Multidisciplinary Pelvic Venous Disorder Care

A masterclass described a two decade multidisciplinary program pairing gynecologic evaluation with ivus guided imaging, coil or surgical treatment of ovarian vein reflux, and staged renal vein stenting with temporary filter protection, raising diagnostic yield on venography from 41 to 89 percent. Related talks examined the diagnostic complexity of pelvic congestion syndrome and reported quality of life gains after pelvic vein embolization.

Thrombosis Treatment and Diagnosis

Two year CLOUT registry data showed durable clot clearance and post thrombotic syndrome in only a fifth of patients after mechanical thrombectomy, while a porcine model of microbubble enhanced sonothrombolysis achieved near complete lysis in minutes. Other talks addressed incidental DVT on CT and cement embolization after vertebroplasty.

Practice, Technology, and a Challenging Case

Additional presentations covered iliac vein trauma outcomes, early exploration of ChatGPT for patient education, and virtual reality headsets that lowered anxiety and pain during office based procedures. A challenging case of infrainguinal varicosities from a pelvic source was resolved with bottom up foam sclerotherapy after imaging excluded central obstruction.
