AVF Honors Rising Researchers With Grants And Awards
Basic Science And Travel Awards
The session opened with the 2025 Basic Science Grant, awarded to a project using Cxcr2-targeted nanotherapeutics to reduce vein wall fibrosis after deep vein thrombosis. A Juzo traveling fellowship report described visits to three vascular anomaly centers to learn evaluation and treatment of complex malformations, followed by two new Juzo career-development awards of twenty thousand dollars each.
Jobst Grant Research Updates
Jobst Clinical Research Grant recipients reported on three projects: a hydration protocol testing whether standardized hydration reduces incidental iliac vein compression on imaging, an AI model predicting bleeding risk alongside clot risk in hospitalized patients, and new imaging work to visualize and quantify pelvic venous flow, each aiming to sharpen decision-making where current tools fall short.
Boston Scientific Grants And Student Awards
Boston Scientific Award recipients linked a specific gene to endothelial dysfunction in varicose vein tissue, and showed in mice that dexamethasone reduces collagen deposition and vein wall thickening after clot formation. The session closed with case-competition and poster awards for trainee work on weight loss and axial reflux, ulcer compression, and sex-specific thrombus differences.
