Building an APP Vein Practice and Mastering Sclerotherapy
From Onboarding to the Injection Itself
Two talks covered building an advanced practice provider into a vein practice, and the judgment that separates a good cosmetic result from a poor one.
A Three Month Onboarding
Define scope and written protocols before the first day. Month one is didactics, shadowing and mock consults with staff standing in as patients. Month two adds supervised visits and joint procedures, with the provider treating one leg while the physician treats the other. Month three raises a half capacity schedule to a full parallel clinic. Track consult to procedure conversion, revenue per day and satisfaction, since a drop in conversion usually points back to the consultation itself.
Restraint Beats Technique
- Find the feeder first. Treat the reticular vein, then reassess the spider cluster six to eight weeks later.
- Keep density low in dense thigh clusters, because surface overload drives matting and pigmentation.
- Do not reinject a reactive field. Diffuse blushing and fuzzy borders mean wait, and express trapped coagulum at around three to four weeks instead.
Results took two or three sessions across six to twelve months, with expectations set at the first visit.
