AVF Toolkit: Guidelines, Member Resources and Advocacy Update
Updated Varicose Vein Guidelines
The 2022 SVS, AVF and AVLS clinical practice guidelines, part one, establish duplex ultrasound as the diagnostic test of choice for venous reflux, recommend intervention over long term compression for symptomatic axial reflux, and advise against routine perforator treatment in CEAP 2 disease.
Classification and Education Resources
The newly published Healthy Veins book gives patients and allied staff a 40 chapter overview of venous disease, while new CEAP and SVP pelvic venous disorder classification workbooks standardize how clinicians annotate patients, and updated patient brochures and bilingual consent forms are available through the AVF store.
Venous Policy Navigator
The Venous Policy Navigator is a monthly updated subscription spreadsheet covering coverage criteria from over 220 payers across seven treatment modalities, including prior authorization requirements and direct links to payer policies, reducing claim denials.
Membership and Advocacy
Membership grew to 855 members with gains among trainees, international physicians and allied health, and the AVF Exchange platform now connects over 850 members for case discussion, while the Health Care Policy Committee urged members to complete RUC surveys and advocacy alerts to offset CMS cuts.
