AVF Research Committee: Grants and Growing Multicenter Studies
The Research Committee’s Core Mission
Dr. Windsor Ting described the Research Committee’s main task as encouraging research into venous disease and its treatment, keeping the field from becoming static, and exploring new areas relevant to venous disease across ongoing and future initiatives.
The JOBS Grant: A Flagship Funding Program
The committee’s major annual task is administering the JOBS grant, an 85000 dollar two year research award considered among the best funded opportunities in venous research, with many current AVF leaders counting among its past recipients.
Expanding Research Programs and Multicenter Studies
Goals include creating additional grant programs modeled on JOBS to fund several researchers each year, positioning the AVF as a clearinghouse for venous research, and launching the organization’s first multicenter prospective or retrospective studies, with an application already under review.
How New Members Can Get Involved
New members are encouraged to attend the annual meeting to see committee work firsthand, respond to the yearly call for committee participants by sending a resume, and submit proposals for the JOBS grant as clinical or basic science researchers.
